GREENVILLE -- Last year McKinney handed the Greenville Lady Lions a 6-0 loss in the area round of the Class 4A soccer playoffs.

The two teams will meet in a rematch at 7 tonight in an area playoff match at Lucas Lovejoy.

McKinney, the District 17-4A champion, brings a 14-1-1 season record into the contest after blanking Frisco Liberty 6-0 in the bi-district round of the playoffs.

“They’re pretty good,” Greenville coach Ron Beck said of the Lionettes. “They’re not as good as they were last year.”

Beck said McKinney’s goalkeeper played another position last season.

“If we can cross the ball we have a pretty good chance,” he said. “That’s what we worked on today, crossing the ball.”

The 10-4-1 Lady Lions received a first-round playoff bye after finishing second in District 20-4A.

Katelynn Twilley leads the Lady Lions for the season with 18 goals.

Twilley scored a hat trick in the Lady Lions’ last outing, a 5-0 victory over Princeton in the district finale. Priscilla Carrillo and Bailey Phillips also scored for the Lady Lions.

The McKinney Frisco winner will advance to the sectional round to take on either Little Elm or Paris.
