Lady Lions win own tennis tournament

GREENVILLE -- Viktoria Jordan, who’s a foreign exchange student from Germany, led the Greenville Lions on Thursday by claiming the girls singles title in the Greenville tennis tournament.

Jordan defeated Greenville teammate Courtney Honeycutt in the finals, 6-1, 6-1.

Skylar Pruner of Greenville also reached the finals in boys singles before falling, 6-1, 6-1, to Bawcum of Paris.

Greenville’s boys doubles team of Colin Doby and Connor Mulkey also reached the final before dropping a 6-3, 6-4 decision to the Paris team of Bawcom and McCain.

Bawcom and Hodgkiss of Paris claimed the girls doubles title, 6-3, 7-5, over Adkins and Trapp of Paris.

Black and Biggins of Terrell won the mixed doubles title, defeating Dyana Gillespie and Tyler McDaniel of Caddo Mills in the championship game, 6-1, 6-1.

Paris won the team championship with 25 points. Greenville finished second with 15 points followed by Terrell (12), Royse City (8), Caddo Mills (7) and Commerce.
