PRINCETON -- Greenville’s Lady Lions bounced back from their
first district loss on Saturday with a 5-0 blanking of
Princeton in their District 20-4A soccer finale on Tuesday.
Katelynn Twilley scored a hat trick to lead the Lady Lions,
who wrapped up district play with a 6-1-1 mark. They are
10-4-1 for the season and await the results of Saturday’s
match between North Lamar and Sulphur Springs to find out if
they finish first or second in the district standings.
Priscilla Carillo and Bailey Phillips also scored for the Lady
Lions, who had an 18-2 advantage in shots on goal.
Emma Hollinsgworth, Meg Lawson and Maddy Crabtree registered
assists.
Goalkeepers Emelie Kilgore and Ellen Robins combined for the
shutout. Robins finished with two saves.
“They played good,” said Lions coach Ron Beck. “We missed a
couple of easy goals we should have got. I was very happy with
what I saw tonight.”
Beck said the Lady Lions will probably play a warmup game
before heading into the playoffs. They’re planning to play
Texas High of Texarkana next week.
