Lions move closer to playoff berth

RICHARDSON -- Greenville’s Lions moved a step closer toward
securing a playoff berth with a 66-64 victory over Richardson
Pearce on Friday.
The Lions avenged a 66-62 loss suffered to J.J. Pearce on Jan.
8 as they strengthened their hold on fourth place in District
10-4A. Greenville improved to 13-15 overall and 7-4 in
district play.
J.J. Pearce dropped into a tie for second place in the 10-4A
standings with Highland Park at 8-3. The 19-10 Mustangs failed
in their bid to reach the 20-win mark for the season.
Devonte Greenville, who ranks among the top Class 4A scorers
in the Metroplex, fired in 30 points to lead the Lions and all
scorers. Alton Dennis also tossed in 13 points for the Lions
and Dijoun Sheppard added eight points.
Cole Holland and Kenny Slocum both tossed in 20 points for
Pearce.
