Three-point shooting leads Lions over Tigers

GREENVILLE -- Greenville hit 13 3-pointers on the way to an
84-67 basketball victory over the Commerce Tigers on Friday
afternoon in the Lions Den.
Devonte Green, who led the Lions with 25 points, also led in
3-pointers with four. Dijoun Sheppard sank two 3-pointers
while finishing with 13 points.
Byron Mack, Alton Dennis, Preston Manning, Ladarrian Green,
N.J. Mason, Ryan Redmon and Cal Crabtree also fired in
3-pointers as the Lions squared their season record at 1-1.
Commerce scored most of its points inside, finishing with two
3-pointers, both by Evan Chapin. Chapin tossed in 13 points.
Cameron Nelson, the Tigers’ 6-6 post, banked in 27 points to
lead all scorers.
Terrence Walker was also a force on the boards and on defense
for the Tigers and added eight points.
The first and third quarters were big for the Lions, who
outscored Commerce 21-13 and 29-19 in those two periods.
Commerce dropped to 0-2.
