Newman Smith downs Lions in baseball

CARROLLTON -- All nine starters had hits during Newman Smith’s
10-2 district baseball victory over the Greenville Lions on
Tuesday night.
The Trojans, who stayed undefeated in District 10-4A play at
4-0, finished with 11 hits including two each from Ryan Lamb
and Tyler Mapes. Brandon Mims also homered.
Greenville managed four hits off Newman Smith pitcher Michael
Howard, who walked five and struck out five.
Wade Prigmore drove in both Greenville runs in the third
inning with a double. Rafael Sanchez, N.J. Mason and Chase
Wofford also singled for the Lions.
Ethan Hackney, who walked three and struck out four, took the
loss. Kevin Long struck out two in an inning of relief.
The Lions remained winless in district play at 0-4.
