Lions beat Kemp in baseball tournament

CHAPEL HILL -- Miguel Saavedra fired a two-hitter and also slugged a two-run homer to power the Greenville Lions to a 12-0 victory over Kemp on Friday at the Chapel Hill baseball tournament.

Greenville, now 3-1 for the season, advanced to today’s 4 p.m. championship game.

The Lions finished with seven hits.

Saavedra struck out 10 batters to lead the Lions, who also downed Fort Worth Trimble Tech 5-2 and Kemp 12-6 on Thursday.
