Lions top Chapel Hill and Trimble Tech

CHAPEL HILL -- Greenville’s Lions went 2-0 on Thursday at the
Chapel Hill baseball tournament, beating Fort Worth Trimble
Tech 5-2 in the first game and Kemp 12-6 in the second game.
Kevin Long picked up the mound win for the Lions in the win
over Trimble Tech, allowing seven hits, one earned run and
four walks while striking out two.
Long also homered and drove in three runs to lead the Lions at
the plate against Trimble Tech. N.J. Mason also had two hits
against Trimble Tech and Brad Ratliff, Edgar Bustillos, Wade
Prigmore, Miguel Saavedra and Rafael Sanchez all had one hit
each. Saavedra drove in two runs.
Mason went 4-for-4 with three runs and two runs batted in
against Kemp while Saavedra drove in four runs and Sanchez
knocked in three runs with two doubles and a sacrifice fly.
Chase Wofford also doubled and scored for the Lions and Wade
Prigmore singled in a run and scored.
Ethan Hackney and Thomas Trower shared the pitching duties for
the Lions. Trower struck out four batters in five innings.
Greenville, now 2-1 for the season, plays again at 6:30 p.m.
today in the Chapel Hill tournament.
