Lions fall in basketball season opener

TYLER -- Class 5A John Tyler of Tyler spoiled Greenville’s 2008-9 basketball opener on Tuesday night, handing the Lions a 71-33 loss.

John Tyler outscored the Lions in each of the four quarters: 19-7, 20-7, 12-8 and 20-13.

Corey Bosworth, who was a second-team all-district selection last season, led Greenville with 12 points. Devonte Green was next with eight points.

John Tyler spread its scoring among Kadarrian Lacy (13), Kerrion Lester (11), Jaron Johnson (11) and Aston Eastmon (10).

Greenville will head back on the road for its next game on Friday at Commerce.
