Carter receives All-District 10-4A basketball team honor

GREENVILLE -- She scored in double digits in 12 of the 14 district games, including a high game of 36 points.

Greenville senior Olivia Carter, who averaged 20.2 points per game in district play, earned the award of offensive player of the year in District 10-4A. Carter shared the honor with Shanae Lowrance of Rockwall-Heath after leading the 17-12 Lady Lions to fourth place and a playoff berth.

Carter scored 36 and 32 points in two games against Richardson Pearce, plus 29 twice against R.L. Turner, 26 versus Newman Smith and 24 against Roye City. Newman Smith (9) and Royse City (8) were the only two district teams to hold Carter in single digits.

Greenville freshman Maddy Crabtree, who averaged 12.5 points per game in district play, earned first-team honors.

Greenville freshman Mackenzie Cooper, who ranked among the team’s leaders in rebounds, steals and assists, secured second-team honors.

Rockwall’s high-scoring senior Peyton Adamson, who averaged 28.9 points per game for the district champions, earned the most valuable player award.

Royse City sophomore Tayler Young captured the defensive player of the year award in the district.

Newcomer of the year honors went to Highland Park freshman Kaitlyn Read.

Rockwall’s Jill McDill captured coach of the year honors.

Royse City also put senior Macy Newton on the first team and junior Taylor Jordan on the second team.
