Lion outfielder named to District 10-4A baseball team

GREENVILLE -- Greenville senior outfielder Brad Ratliff
represented the Lions on the All-District 10-4A baseball team.
Ratliff earned first-team honors. He was the only Greenville
Lion to make the team.
Rockwall-Heath’s 39-3 Hawks, who reached the Region II-4A
finals and were also district champions, dominated the voting.
Heath’s pitcher-first baseman Jake Thompson shared most
valuable player honors with Newman Smith shortstop Brandon
Mims.
Rockwall-Heath’s third baseman-pitcher Jovan Hernandez claimed
the offensive MVP award.
The defensive MVP honor went to Rockwall-Heath shortstop
Trevor Holland.
Rockwall-Heath senior James Baune captured the pitcher of the
year award.
The coach of the year honor went to Greg Harvey of
Rockwall-Heath.
Newman Smith sophomore Alex Benbow claimed newcomer of the
year honors and the top underclassman award went to Richardson
Pearce sophomore Trevor Renfro.
Senior pitcher Scot Lane earned first-team honors for Royse
City while sophomore outfielder Mitchell Venhaus made the
second team.
